ʻĀina Mamalu: Please Kōkua in Protecting Wanini

Aloha kākou,

Kīpuka Kuleana is asking for your kōkua in protecting this serene, beautiful ʻāina at Wanini in the bay known as Mamalu (shaded and protected). This kuleana land, which once held a fishpond and loʻi, is one of the last chances for area ʻohana to have an undeveloped community space to return to and care for along the Anini coast. This ʻāina is currently on the market for $1.7 million dollars. Multiple neighboring properties, all vacation rentals, are currently for sale for over three million dollars a piece. The incredible and tireless efforts of the Hui Makaʻainana o Makana in Hā'ena show what can happen when Hawaiian ʻohana can continue to gather across generations in their home. This ʻāina could become a piko to mālama Anini, one of Hawaiʻi's largest reefs, once a thriving source of limu and community subsistence; a space to practice and to teach.

Please support this effort and protection of vital ʻohana ʻāina on Kauaʻi through a tax deductible donation of any amount to our Hōʻahu Lands Fund.

Please share this message with others who may want to support. Every contribution helps. Learn more about this effort through our flyer below, and feel free to contact us with any questions (admin@kipukakuleana.org).

E mālama pono kākou,

Our Kīpuka Kuleana Team

Kīpuka Kuleana works towards a future in which long-time ʻohana continue to thrive in, share and care for every ahupuaʻa on Kauaʻi. Kīpuka Kuleana is a 501(c)(3) organization and community land trust dedicated to helping Kauaʻi ʻohana protect and maintain their connections to ancestral lands.
